A very rare, possibly unique, pair of Egyptian revival Art Deco cufflinks. The cufflinks feature the head of a young Pharaoh, possibly inspired by the finding of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. On the reverse side is the recognisable shape of a pyramid. The interest in Egypt and its vast and spectacular history was a great source of inspiration and design influence on the now highly developing countries of the 'Western' world. Vast treasures and artifacts emerged from the excavation of the tombs stretching all the way into the 1930's and the world sat back in awe. Nods to Egypt's rich history and heritage could be seen in art, design and fashion. Cufflinks such as this are a wonderful example of that inspiration. European made, set with old cut diamonds and rubies. They are 18 carat gold with platinum finished settings. The inside of the pyramid shapes are cut to allow light to pass through the approximately .20 carat old cut diamonds.
